Games

Games are such a creative medium.

A combination of technology, music, art and writing that requires a lot of skills to make and offers truly unique and unforgetable experiences. I will admit that I often find the process of creating games much more enjoyable than playing them...

Games I've worked on

For all my non-commercial jam games, check out my itch.io.

Eat the villagers, murder bunnies, milk cows, or exterminate gods! Soulash is a traditional, turn-based roguelike where your goal is to consume the souls of the living, conquer the vast fantasy world and decide its fate.

My contribution:I developed a consistent style that replaced the old ASCII graphics, created over 1,000 pixel-art elements and frame-by-frame animations, and also handled some of the promotion and Social Media. Despite failed Kickstarter, the game was a success - which is awesome, since the developer is really commited and deserve even more recognition for his work. Very grateful for that opportunity.

11111Game is a variation of 2048 for nerds. Originally created for TriJam, a three-hour gamejam with a "Binary" theme, but refined and expanded.

My contribution: For 11111Game I developed some of the mechanics and the entire graphics part. This was also my first game on Nintendo Switch - seeing it on eShop is wild. The ultimate goal would be to see a game I've worked on on a Direct... Ah, maybe one day.

Steam Switch

Deliver packages... in space! Test your agility by navigating through different galaxies carrying diverse packages and upgrade your ship. Will you become the best courier in the universe?

My contribution: Yet another project that started on Trijam and developed over time. In the original game, I took part in the game, graphic and UI design - and most of it stayed as it is. As for the Steam, extended version, Heti was responsible for most of the work as well as pixel-art (with my feedback - he does a great job), and I guess I can describe my input as.. "fussing and bitching" about variety of stuff. Which is still needed, I think.

Blaze in Space is a modern arcade game with a logical twist. Guide your spaceship through a neon maze - think fast and keep the pace to beat other players.

My contribution: For this project, I was responsible for the UI and some of the marketing. I joined really late when the game was basically ready, and UI neededn some refresh from the prototype one. Overall, I wish I was involved a bit earlier, since I'm sure the game would benefit with less moving and flashy elements, focusing more on the puzzle aspect than VFXs.

Cosplay

I do not consider myself the most active cosplayer in the world, but I do like to dress up like my favorite game characters, especially when I can DIY some stuff!

Games I love

Titles that left the strongest impressions on me, in no particular order.

Fire Emblem Three Houses

Well, there's no denying it, this title has definitively awakened something new in me. I owe a lot to this title - my drawing skill rose sharply through the numerous fanart I produced, the same with writing. I also met fantastic people from the fandom, created my first works for zines, and was even an art mod in one. This series also inspired me to create my first proper cosplay, in which I was later in a photo shoot with more than 20 talented people. Anyways, you can read more in the Fandom!

I'm drawn to the games mainly because of the characters and stories, and both of these things were done here simply superbly. The lore of the world is inviting, characters are multidimensional (and have 2D portraits, for which I'm really grateful!), the music is gripping. Looking at the FE series as a whole, the gameplay and levels don't fare well, but well, there have been worse.

Yakuza 0

Another example of "mechanics in later games are more fun for me, but this one wins since in the end the story and characters have more importance". Who once met Kiryu and Majima simply won't forget them. What I love most about Yakuza is the combination of a serious storyline interspersed with comical side quests and mini-games. And some of the cutscenes are just masterfully directed - I consider this 15-minutes long Majima introduction hands on my favorite scene in gaming.

Detroit: Become Human

Once again - the world, the story, the characters. While Kara's part did not manage to grab my heart (it's hard for me to relate to the most of mother-daughter themes) and Markus' only partially, I found Connor story extremaly engaging and thought-provoking, easily carrying on the whole experience.

The game, besides great story, music and visuals, has one additional thing which I absolutely love seeing in games - breaking the fourth wall in a right way - here, with the help of an assistant in the main menu that comments and questions player's choices.
